Claudia Ibarra was born in Zacatecas, Mexico, and moved to Boulder, Colorado with her father, mother, and five sisters. She is also considered a DACA recipient since 2012. With the help of several scholarships like Boulder County Latina League, she was able to graduate from the University of Colorado Denver with a bachelor’s degree in public health in 2017.
She works with Boulder County in the community service department with the Community Action Program. Her title is the Bilingual C.A.P Project Specialist and one of her projects is to relaunch the Cultural Broker Program. Apart from her work life, she is highly involved with community organizations like Zonta Foothills of Boulder County and GENERATIONS. Within Zonta, she is a member of the adult club. She participates in the educateZ committee to follow the mission to advance women and girls locally and worldwide through education, health and wellness, economic stability, safety, and legal equality; she is a part of the educateZ committee. In addition to being a part of this committee, she is the intern and mentor for the college and high school chapters.
Within Generations, she volunteers to follow their mission to support youth, primarily Latine youth, in staying in school and reducing the chances of unplanned pregnancy through sexual health empowerment. When she is not working or in community meetings she enjoys spending time outdoors with her boyfriend, family, and friends. One of her goals is to go back to school and obtain her master's degree in public health and keep moving up in leadership within Boulder County to create effective change within the delivery services for the global majority.
I am very grateful for the emotional and financial support that the Boulder County Latina League provided me with my education journey and continued support in my professional development.
